We have the perfect itinerary to enjoy the best that the region has to offer. If you want to be a part of it, you’ll need to be on board WELL IN ADVANCE. We are taking reservations NOW and it will be full over a year in advance of the trip. We hope you can join us for this UNIQUE and UNFORGETTABLE travel experience.

Day 1: Today we board our overnight flight into Frankfurt, Germany arriving the morning of July 8th.
Day 2: Upon arrival in Frankfurt, our luxury coach will pick us up. It’s important that we stay awake today, so we’ll keep you busy. We’ll show you a few interesting things in Frankfurt (including Romerplatz (the medieval main square), the impressive cathedral and more. After lunch, we’ll drive about 2 ½ hours to the south (partly on the famous Romantic Road) arriving in the early evening to Rothenburg – considered by many to be the best preserved medieval town in Europe. We’ll walk you inside the walled city tonight so you can get dinner and stroll a bit. B
Day 3: We’ll take an interesting walking tour inside the walled city this morning. The well preserved fortification wall, impressive towers, cobblestone streets and dramatic setting on the Tauber River make this a special place in Europe. This afternoon, you can climb the tower, visit the famous Kathe Wohlfahrt Christmas market, stroll along the top of the wall or sit on a bench and take in the views. In the late afternoon, we take our drive into Munich arriving around 5:30. A welcome reception with our local tour leader is included tonight. B, D
Day 4: This morning we’ll show you around this vibrant city. Munich is the heart of Bavaria, blending the traditional and the modern. Our tour this morning will show us the Jofbrauhaus, Marienplatz (with its famous Glockenspeil), Ludwigstrasse and the majestic Opera House. This afternoon, there is an optional trip to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. This was the first concentration camp, opened immediately after Hitler’s rise to power. The camp site is maintained as a memorial and excellent background information is provided on the journey. Free time this evening. B
Day 5: Munich – Fussen – Oberammergau. We drive into the scenic Bavarian Alps today and enjoy a morning visit to fabulous Newschwanstein Castle. This is the MOST famous of all European castles (see front of brochure) because of its majestic setting, interesting history and striking architecture. We’ll enjoy a tour inside. The scenes inside and out are truly beyond words and unique in all of Europe. In the afternoon, we enjoy a scenic drive into the village of Oberammergau where we check into our hotel for two nights. We’ll show you the theater and get you oriented in the town. Dinner is included this evening. B, D
Day 6: Oberammergau. We’ll have the morning to enjoy this charming town which is bustling for this once in a decade event. You’ll love the painted houses, picturesque church, and wood carvings that are famous in this area. After lunch, we’ll find our reserved seats to enjoy the Great Passion Play. The town of Oberammergau vowed that if God would spare them from the effects of the bubonic plague, they would perform a play every ten years depicting the life and death of Jesus. The death rate subsequently decreased dramatically and they kept their promise performing their first play. The play, now performed repeatedly over the course of five months, during the last year of each decade, involves over 2,000 performers, musicians, and stage technicians, all of whom are residents of the village. The play comprises spoken dramatic text, musical and choral accompaniment and more in their excellent outdoor theater (with covered seats). The play begins in the afternoon, breaks for dinner, and finishes in the evening. WE HAVE PAID EXTRA FOR THE PREMIUM SEATS WHICH YOU’LL AGREE IS WELL WORTH IT. B, D
Day 7: Oberammergau – Berchtesgaden – Salzburg. We are making our way to Salzburg today, making a very interesting stop in Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest in the scenic town of Berchtesgaden overlooking the German and Austrian Alps. This mountain top chalet and the impressive road leading to it were a gift for his 50th birthday. The views from the top are beyond stunning with towering, green mountains and pristine lakes in every direction. We then continue into Salzburg arriving in the late afternoon. Dinner is included this evening. B, D
Day 8: Salzburg. A knowledgeable local guide will take us on an interesting walking tour of the old city. We’ll start in beautiful Mirabell Gardens (made famous in the Sound of Music) followed by a stroll to Great Festival Hall, St. Peter’s Churchyard and the monument in Domplatz. We’ll also visit Mozart’s birthplace on charming Getreidegasse. This afternoon, we have a surprise. We’ll travel to the nearby mountain village of Villach where we are guests of Sister Monika who will take us on a tour of the Monastery of Kloster Wernberg. Originally a castle, it is today home to about 60 missionary sisters and they have prepared for us a traditional Carinthian dinner. It is an evening to remember. B, D
Day 9: Salzburg – Vienna. Our lovely morning drive takes us to visit the Lipizzaner Stud Farm to learn about these athletic white stallions that are bred for the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. The visit is enlightening and the setting in the Austrian countryside is unrivaled. After a lunch stop in Graz (with its famous Renaissance squares), we then continue into the imperial city of Vienna. This was once the most dominant city in Europe and home to the once powerful Hapsburg Empire. We’ll be here for two nights. B
Day 10: Vienna. Today is a day to relax in beautiful Vienna. This morning enjoy an exclusive Cultural Insight with a guided visit to the Habsburg royal collection of art at the Kunsthistorisches Museum prior to admission of the general public. The spectacular Kunstkammer will be revealed in this private insider visit. Later our local guide shows you the city’s major landmarks and palaces during your included sightseeing tour. The Imperial Boulevards lead to views of the Opera House, the Hofburg Palace, the Parliament and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. The magic continues with a walking tour through the oldest parts of the city near ‘Am Hof’. Walk along the Kärntnerstrasse in the center of the city and shop for souvenirs. This evening, join your traveling companions and travel director for a Farewell Dinner. B, D
Day 11: Today we transfer to the airport for our flights home. You’ll never forget your Alpine Europe/Oberammergau Tour (we did it in 2010, and people are still talking about it). See you in 2022!
BECAUSE THIS EVENT ONLY TAKES PLACE ONCE EVERY DECADE, IT IS VERY POPULAR. AS SUCH, SERVICE PROVIDERS SUCH AS HOTELS, RESTAURANTS, BUSES (especially in Oberammergau), ARE MORE STRICT ABOUT THEIR POLICIES. WEBB TOURS MUST FOLLOW THEIR RULES. PLEASE READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SO THAT YOU UNDERSTAND IMPORTANT DATES, POSSIBLE PENALTIES AND TRAVEL INSURANCE.
To make a reservation, simply fill out the attached reservation form and send it to us with a deposit of $500 per person deposit. This will cover your initial deposit and confirm your space on the tour. When we receive your deposit, we will mail you a receipt confirming that you are registered for the tour. An additional $500 per person is due by January 31, 2021. A letter with instructions, hotel itinerary flight information will be sent in August, 2021 when the full OBERAMMERGAU portion of your tour will be due. Final payment for the tour will be due six months before departure. We require final payments in the form of a check. If that is not possible, arrangements can be made to use a credit card. Webb Tours accepts Visa, Mastercard, AMEX and Discover, but for international tours a surcharge of 2% will be added to the balance.
Payment Schedule & Cancellation Penalties
We understand that you may need to cancel your trip for whatever reason. The Oberammergau portion of your tour has restrictive policies as hotels, restaurants and theater tickets are in very high demand. An initial $500 deposit is due to reserve your space. An additional $500 is due by January, 2021. Both are given directly to service providers in Oberammergau and are non refundable. But it will be returned to you if your space is sold to someone else. They simply will not give refunds due to the popularity of the Passion Play. Here is the schedule of other payments going forward:
For airlines, specifically, tickets are generally non refundable when purchased. However, most airlines will allow the value of the canceled tickets to be reused for future travel, though a penalty may be assessed to reuse the tickets. If you have to cancel, Webb Tours will work with other providers to obtain as much refund as possible for our travelers. Our travelers know us to be very fair in this regard.
To avoid cancellation penalties, cancellation insurance may be purchased. This insurance will reimburse you for the non-refundable cancellation penalties imposed if you must cancel your trip for a covered reason such as illness, injury or death to you, a traveling companion or an immediate family member. Other reasons for cancellation include Common Carrier-caused delays due to inclement weather, jury duty, or a documented traffic accident en route to departure.
The per person price for insurance for this tour is $249
If you are interested in the insurance, it may be purchased at the time you make your deposit, or at a later date (up to the time you make final payment). Webb Tours is not the insurer and acts as agent for the insurance company. To activate your insurance, we need your premium and your birth date. In addition to refunding the cost of your tour (excluding airfare), travel insurance also includes $2,500 for baggage loss, $500 for baggage delay, up to $50,000 for medical expenses and up to $50,000 for medical evacuation.
