It’s an island of mountains in a sea of prairies and rangelands, covering an area the size of Delaware. Eighteen peaks soar over 7,000 feet forming the highest points east of the Rockies. From the abundant wildlife roaming the open prairies, to the interesting history which has unfolded in these mountains. These are the fabled Black Hills. Webb Tours is again excited to offer this tour which takes you to the unique and varied scenery of the Southwestern South Dakota. But that’s not all. We’ll also visit Teton and Yellowstone Parks, the Big Horn Basin, Cody and much more. We hope you can join us for the seven-day bus tour filled with beauty, history, entertainment and fun. We’ll travel by luxury motor coach from Salt Lake, stay in great hotels, enjoy delicious meals and take in some of the country’s most spectacular scenery.
Sightseeing Highlights:
During our time in the Black Hills, we’ll be joined by our local guides that live in Rapid City. They are well informed, educational and fun. Their history and stories will add substantially to your experience as you spend time in this fascinating and beautiful area.
September is the PERFECT TIME to be in the region. Summer crowds are gone, temperatures are pleasant (70’s in Jackson and the Black Hills, 60’s in Yellowstone) and landscapes are beautiful. In our opinion, this is an excellent time to be in the Black Hills.
September 11: Salt Lake to Jackson: This morning, we’ll meet our motor coach and head north. This is a perfect time to be in the region. Our destination tonight is beautiful Jackson, Wyoming. We’ll make lunch and rest stops on our way. We’ll be in Jackson at about 3:00. After checking into our hotel, we’ll have a chance to browse in this charming mountain town. Tonight will be fun as we enjoy dinner and entertainment at the Bar J Chuckwagon. The food is great the show is hilarious and fun. This will be a great way to start our tour. Tour to pay for dinner and show today.
September 12: Jackson through Yellowstone to Cody: After waking up to a beautiful mountain scene and enjoying a relaxing breakfast, we’ll drive north through a portion of beautiful Teton National Park (with a photo stop around Jenny Lake) and into our oldest national park: Yellowstone. We’ll have time to see several sights of interest in the park’s lower loop such as Old Faithful, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and Upper and Lower Yellowstone Falls. You have probably been here before, but it is always worth another look at these spectacular national parks. We’ll exit the park to the east and drive a short distance into Cody, Wyoming tonight. Tour to pay for breakfast and park admissions today.
September 13: Cody to Rapid City: Welcome to the beautiful Big Horn Basin. Our scenic drive today takes us through the basin as we make our way east. After lunch in Buffalo, we take a slight tour to the north to see Devil’s Tower National Monument. This is VERY interesting to see and definitely worth the detour to see it. We continue into Rapid City tonight, arriving at around 6:00 PM. Dinner is included tonight near our hotel. We stay three nights at the Country Inn and Suites (or similar) in Rapid City. Tour to pay for breakfast and dinner today.
September 14: Black Hills: Welcome to the storied Black Hills of South Dakota, an oasis of pine-clad mountains on the Great Plains. We’ll be joined for the next two days by a local guide whose knowledge and experience in the Black Hills will make this area come alive. Today we’ll see the sights that make the area famous. We’ll see Custer State Park with the hundreds of roaming buffalo, antelope and wild horses. We will then visit the mountain carving of Crazy Horse which is in progress (admission included). Lunch is on your own in the Heritage Village. From there it’s a short drive to the incomparable Mount Rushmore. You just have to see it to fully appreciate it. After some free time this afternoon, we’ll drive a short distance to Deadwood where an early dinner for our group is included. We will make our way back to Rapid City via beautiful Spearfish Canyon and the interesting town of Spearfish. Tour to pay for light breakfast and dinner today.
September 15: Badlands and Deadwood: Just east of Rapid City is the unique area known as the Badlands. This was home to the Lakota Sioux (including Crazy Horse and Red Cloud) as well as names like General Custer, Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hicock. The region has been ravaged by wind, rain and erosion over the centuries and what remains are unique landscapes made up of sharp ridges, steep-walled canyons, gullies, pyramids, and other formations. We’ll make a loop through this scenic region and listen to fascinating stories from our local guide. For lunch, we’ll make a stop at America’s largest drug store: Wall Drug. Started in 1931, this landmark which sits in the heart of the Badlands is a fun place to visit. After relaxing at the hotel, you’ll have a chance for dinner and browsing in the interesting mountain town of Keystone. We’ll then return to Mt. Rushmore for the evening lighting ceremony which is VERY impressive. Tour to pay for breakfast and entrance fees today.
September 16: Rapid City to Rawlins: This morning we’ll drive south through Casper (where we’ll have lunch) into Rawlins, Wyoming where we’ll spend the evening. On our way, we’ll visit the Martin/Willey Handcart Company Visitors Center where many of the Utah pioneer handcart companies were stranded. An interesting museum/visitors center has been erected near the spot which is worth seeing regardless of religions preference. Tour to pay for breakfast & dinner today
September 17: Rawlins to Salt Lake: Today we wind our way home arriving about 4:00. Tour to pay for breakfast today.
Registration Information:
To make a reservation, simply fill out the attached reservation form and send it to us with a deposit of $300 per person. When we receive your deposit, we will mail you a receipt confirming that you are registered for the tour. A letter with instructions, hotel itinerary flight information (if applicable) and luggage tags will be sent roughly 60 days prior to departure at which time the balance will be due. You do not need to pay the balance until after you receive that packet. We require final payments in the form of a check. If that is not possible, arrangements can be made to use a credit card. Webb Tours accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. A 2% fee applies to final payments made by credit card.
Cancellation Penalties
We understand that you may need to cancel your trip for whatever reason. If it is 60 days or more before departure, all money will be refunded. If airline tickets are purchased prior to that time (with your permission), they become the property of the traveler and are not refundable. All other funds will be returned if cancellation occurs outside of 60 days. If it is within 60 days, we will charge you only what Webb Tours cannot recover. In some cases, we can recover all of it. In others, we cannot. Cruise lines, airlines, hotels and other service providers require funds in advance and have their own rules about what will be refunded once paid. We must follow their guidelines. For airlines, specifically, tickets are generally non refundable when purchased. However, most airlines will allow the value of the canceled tickets to be reused for future travel, though a penalty may be assessed to reuse the tickets. If you have to cancel, Webb Tours will work with other providers to obtain as much refund as possible for our travelers. Our travelers know us to be very fair in this regard.
Cancellation Insurance:
Cancellation insurance is also available should you be interested. The insurance provider that we us is Travelex Insurance. You can learn about them at www.travelexinsurance.com. With this insurance, most of your money will be returned to you in case you have to cancel for covered reasons (illness or death of an immediate family member) at the last minute. The price for the insurance varies based on the price of the trip and the age of the participant (at the time the insurance is purchased).
If you are interested in the insurance, you can purchase it through Webb Tours at any time. The insurance goes into effect once purchased. If you have any pre-existing conditions, it is best to purchase the insurance within 14 days of making your initial deposit as that will cover an illness that may result from a pre-existing condition. If you don’t have pre-existing conditions, you can purchase the insurance any time between now and the time you make your final payment. Insurance cannot be purchased after your final payment is made. Webb Tours is not the insurer and acts as agent for Travelex. To activate your insurance, we need your premium and your birth date.
