One of the most scenic water highways of the world is the beautiful Rhine River. Important parts of Europe have grown and thrived due to the benefits of this magnificent water way. Webb Tours has teamed up with Gate 1 River Cruises to offer this exciting vacation that will take you first to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where we board our luxury cruiser for a 9 day cruise along the Rhine. The itinerary features charming cities, majestic castles and peaceful scenery as we make our way through Germany and into Switzerland.

Also, riverboats are of course much smaller than cruise ships, welcoming several hundred guests instead of several thousand. Single supplement for each category is $1,700 per person (meaning that $1,700 would be added to the above figures to obtain the price for one person in a stateroom)
Prices include cruise, taxes, port charges, government fees, Switzerland hotel, transportation from Basel to Bern and Swiss sightseeing.
Airfare and some optional excursions are additional – Air prices available in November of 2022. Air will be arranged for our group flying Salt Lake City. Airfare can also be arranged from any other gateway city upon request.

Welcome to Amsterdam, Holland’s sophisticated and modern capital. Transfer to the port. After arrival formalities, rest and relax on board, or begin your discovery of the many cultural sites this city has to offer. This evening, meet your Cruise Director and enjoy a gala Welcome Dinner as it sets the mood for your delightful river cruise. Overnight: River Cruise. Meals: Dinner
September 4, Monday – Amsterdam City Tour & Afternoon Cruising
Today’s panoramic tour of 700-year-old Amsterdam introduces you to both the old and the new sections of this city. View the Royal Palace on Amsterdam’s Dam Square, the Queen’s official home-away-from-home. On to the Dutch National Monument dedicated by Queen Juliana as a memorial to the victims of WWII and to the unusual Skinny Bridge, once so narrow that pedestrians could not pass each other. Then, board a glass-top boat and cruise the winding canals for an up-close view of the stately historic homes, 16th-century warehouses and charming churches with striking bell towers. September 5, Tuesday – Cologne City Tour
Sail on the legendary Rhine to Cologne, one of Germany’s largest cities and capital of the Rhineland, arriving as you enjoy lunch on board. Your walking tour of the city is highlighted by the soaring, twin-steeple Gothic cathedral that is the geographical and spiritual heart of the city. Known for its vibrant art scene, Cologne abounds with cafes, galleries, shops and taverns. After dinner on board, time to explore Cologne’s vibrant nightlife before setting sail. September 6, Wednesday – Morning in Koblenz & Afternoon Cruising
The ship docks this morning in Koblenz, located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers. Join a walking tour this morning and free time to explore the Romanesque architecture and imposing defensive towers of this 2000-year old city. Or, join the optional tour to the dramatic Marksburg Castle, the only hill castle on the Rhine that’s never been destroyed and has been continuously occupied for over 700 years. At noon, set sail and enjoy a relaxing afternoon on board, taking in the spectacular vistas as the ship sails past castles perched on lofty cliffs, terraced vineyards and tiny villages. Pass the mighty Lorelei Rock on the eastern bank of the Rhine rising vertically from the waters, named for the siren “Lorelei” who bewitched sailors passing by. This evening, arrive in Rüdesheim, a lively village in the heart of the Rhine. After dinner, perhaps stroll along the lanes filled with quaint wine taverns

September 7, Thursday – Morning in Mannheim & Afternoon in Speyer
Today discover Mannheim, meeting point of the Rhine and Neckar Rivers, once the gathering place for classical composers. View the imposing red sandstone Schloss, Germany’s largest Baroque palace and the Luisenpark, one of the loveliest parks in Europe. Alternatively, join the optional tour to Heidelberg, home to the oldest university in Germany and inspiration for some of the world’s greatest writers and artists; tour the city and view the ruins of 12th century Heidelberg Castle before returning to the ship as it sails to Speyer. Here, stroll the lanes of this picturesque city founded by the Romans, with its prized red sandstone cathedral named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. September 8, Friday – Strasbourg City Tour
A lovely day awaits you in the Alsace capital of Strasbourg, situated on the border of France and Germany, blending the cultures of both countries. Discover Strasbourg on the tour highlighting the city’s center, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. Of special note is the stunning Gothic Cathedral, an exquisite example of late Gothic architecture that houses one of the finest astronomical clocks in existence. See the magical La Petite France district, home to quaint shops and charming bistros, Place Kleber, a large historic square in the center of the city and Place Gutenberg, dedicated to the inventor of the printing press. September 9, Saturday – Breisach Walking Tour
Arrive this morning in the small city of Breisach that dates back over 4,000 years. On your walking tour along the cobbled streets lined with pastel-painted houses, it’s hard to believe this town was mostly destroyed in WWII and then totally restored to its original beauty. View the towering Romanesque and Gothic St. Stephansmunster Cathedral, a highlight of the city. After lunch set sail for Basel. September 10, Sunday – Depart Switzerland This morning, disembark and prepare to spend the day enjoying the beauty in this part of Switzerland. Our coach will take us into the capital city of Bern where a local guide will show us this UNESCO protected city including one of Europe’s oldest working clock towers, Einstein’s house the Rose Garden (stunning views) and the famous Bear Pits. We continue to the Interlaken area where we spend the evening. Breakfast
September 11, Monday – This morning we show you what is perhaps the most beautiful valley in Switzerland: The Lauterbrunen Valley – flanked by the famous Jungfrau glaciers. While here, we’ll visit the very unique Tremmelbach Falls. This is a serious of waterfalls that cascade INSIDE the mountain and we enjoy the views from various vantage points along the way. It is a spectacular natural wonder. We will then take you over the stunning Brunig Pass with more amazing views before making our way back to Bern. Breakfast
September 12, Tuesday: Thos morning we transfer to the Zurich airport for our return flight. Breakfast
To make a reservation, simply fill out the attached reservation form and send it to us with a deposit of $300 per person. When we receive your deposit, we will mail you a receipt confirming that you are registered for the tour. A letter with instructions, hotel itinerary flight information (if applicable) and luggage tags will be sent 100 days prior to departure at which time the balance will be due. You do not need to pay the balance until after you receive that packet. We require final payments in the form of a check. If that is not possible, arrangements can be made to use a credit card. Webb Tours accepts Visa, Amex, Mastercard and Discover. A 2.5% surcharge will be added for final payments made by credit card. There is no additional charge for original deposits made with credit cards.
We understand that you may need to cancel your trip for whatever reason. Due to the high demand for river cruises and the rules enforced by our suppliers, the deposit is non refundable once paid. If it is 95 days or more before departure, all money will be refunded. Here is a summary of the cancellation penalties:
For airlines, specifically, tickets are generally non refundable when purchased. However, most airlines will allow the value of the canceled tickets to be reused for future travel, though a penalty may be assessed to reuse the tickets. If you have to cancel, Webb Tours will work with other providers to obtain as much refund as possible for our travelers. Our travelers know us to be very fair in this regard.
To avoid cancellation penalties, cancellation insurance may be purchased. Insurance will reimburse you for the non-refundable cancellation penalties imposed if you must cancel your trip for a covered reason like illness, injury or death to you, a traveling companion or an immediate family member. Other reasons for cancellation include Common Carrier-caused delays due to inclement weather, jury duty, or a documented traffic accident in route to departure. Price of the insurance depends on your stateroom category as follows:

Insurance is purchased through the cruise line and may be purchased any time up to the point you make your final payment. Insurance cannot be purchased after your final payment is made. Webb Tours is not the insurer and acts as agent for the insurance company. To activate your insurance, we need your premium and your birth date.
