Kentucky and Tennessee are two of our nation’s most beautiful states. This SEVEN DAY tour will expose you to the panoramic landscapes, iconic homes and neighborhoods, interesting history and more. And we’ll do it in the spring when temperatures are pleasant and the Smokies are full of wildflowers. We have combined them into a relaxing, affordable vacation flying into Nashville, visiting eastern Tennessee (with Pigeon Forge and the Smokies) and home from Kentucky. And it’s Derby Time in Kentucky which allows us to take in some fun races at Churchill Downs. We’ll travel the short distances on our luxury coach, stay in nice hotels and enjoy some delicious meals and entertainment along the way. It is a FABULOUS spring getaway. We hope you can join us!

May 19: This morning we’ll meet at the airport for our flight to Nashville, Tennessee arriving in the afternoon. It’s a great time to be in Tennessee. We’ll check into our hotel for a rest. We’ll start with a bang as we’ve included dinner and a show aboard the fabulous General Jackson Showboat cruising on the beautiful Cumberland River (If General Jackson is not sailing, we will attend the Grand Ole Opry instead). It’s a great way to start our trip. D
May 20: This morning, we’ll be joined by a talented couple named Davd & Daphne who will provide some interesting history and show us some iconic places that make Nashville famous. And they won’t just show us – they’ll sing it to us. They have had a long career in Nashville so they have a unique perspective (and they’ll share their talents). After lunch at Opry Mills, we’ll head east about three hours to beautiful Pigeon Forge at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains. Dinner is included this evening followed by Country Tonite – featuring country music that is a part of the Tennessee fabric. We’ll spend THREE NIGHTS in Pigeon Forge. B, D
May 21: After breakfast today, we’ll spend several hours at world-famous DOLLYWOOD owned by Dolly Parton. Dollywood features traditional crafts, Smoky Mountain music, unique and delicious food and an unrivaled ambiance set amidst the scenic hills of Tennessee. This is fun. There are several “mini” shows going on that are fun to see. After visiting the park, we’ll rest at the hotel. This evening, we’ll see the most popular (and by far the best) show in town called the Smoky Mountain Opry. This is a variety show with a little bit of everything and a favorite for our groups. Dinner is included tonight before the show at the famous Applewood Farms Restaurant. B, D
May 22: Today we’ll be joined by a local guide who will show us around the area. We are at the foot of beautiful Smoky Mountain National Park and there are beautiful spring blossoms and wildflowers in those hills (nature willing). We’ll first stop at the Visitor’s Center for a quick film and orientation. We’ll then enjoy the scenic drive to the top of the park (only about 20 miles). We’ll stop at the Tennessee/North Carolina Border and admire the incredible scene. The famous Appalachian Trail passes through this spot. We’ll continue down the other side via Cherokee (with a fun browsing stop) into Asheville, North Carolina where we’ll visit the stunning Biltmore Estate. The estate was opened by George Vanderbilt on Christmas Eve in 1895 as a country retreat where he could pursue his passion for art, literature and horticulture. All are reflected here. We’ll enjoy a tour of the mansion, the incredible grounds (designed by the architect of Central Park in NYC) and time for lunch. We’ll then enjoy a 90 minute ride back to Pigeon Forge (on the freeway) for a rest at the hotel before enjoying our evening dinner/show: The Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud. Great fun and great food (all you can eat) while these famous families go at each other (and the audience becomes part of the show). The show features music, comedy, dancing and other variety acts. B, D
May 23: Today we make our way north into beautiful Kentucky through the scenic Daniel Boone National Forest. Then get your cameras out as we leave the highway and travel along some of the most beautiful country roads in America. We’ll take you by Winstar Farms where the most prized thoroughbred horses are housed. The endless farms, green rolling hills and neatly placed fencing creates a lovely vista as far as you can see. Outside of Lexington, we’ll make a visit to a very unique place called Old Friends Farm. Michael, the owner, left his home in Boston15+ years ago to adopt retired racehorses to give them a home. Past Kentucky Derby winners like Silver Charm, War Emblem, Touch Gold and many others are here. Michael will give us a very interesting tour of his place that our groups have LOVED. We stay outside in the Lexington area for two nights. B
May 24: Today we travel about 45 minutes into Louisville where we will visit Churchill Downs. You can’t go to Kentucky and miss this place. We’ll watch a movie and enjoy an interesting guided tour which will take us out to the grounds and racetrack. As an added bonus, this is race day! (Not the Kentucky Derby, but lesser known, live racing). We have reserved seats to enjoy a race or two. They race all afternoon, and we’ll just take in a bit of it. Whether you’re a fan on of racing or not, it is really fun to watch a live horse race at Churchill Downs. A delicious lunch is included while there. It’s a fun atmosphere. We stay in Lexington again tonight B, L
May 25: This morning after a nice breakfast, we’ll take you to the Kentucky Horse Park. This is a working horse farm and an educational theme park that is interesting, educational and absolutely beautiful. There are shows, exhibits and lots of unique things to see. We will then take you to the airport for our afternoon flights back home. B
Like the HUNDREDS of people that we have taken on this tour over the years, you will FALL IN LOVE with this part of the country. The combination of natural beauty, iconic places and incredible entertainment makes this a trip YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS! We hope you can join us.
