Itinerary
Please Note

October 9, 2024:  Today we embark on an exciting and inspirational autumn adventure as we board our flight to Nashville, Tennesee. Upon arrival, we will transfer to the our hotel for a rest. Tonight you will have a choice: You can enjoy dinner and a cruise aboard the General Jackson Riverboat that sails on the scenic Cumberland River OR you can see an evening performance at the Grand Ole Opry.

Evening activity is not included. We must know your preference four months before the tour. Price for either activity is approximately $70 per person.

October 10:  Today we’ll show you Nashville. Our guide from “Sharin Nashville” will spend the morning showing the interesting parts of this multi-faceted city. We’ll see Music Row, the old Ryman Auditorium, homes of the stars and more. After lunch on your own at Opry Mills, we have included admission to EITHER the Country Music Hall of Fame OR The Hermitage which is the home/plantation of President Andrew Jackson. After a rest at the hotel, we’ll enjoy an evening session at the Nashville Temple.  B

October 11: This morning, we’ll make our way north into Kentucky. We’ll make an interesting stop at the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln, in Hodgenville which is definitely worth a visit. We then continue into Louisville and check into our hotel. We will enjoy a late afternoon session in the recently reopened Louisville Temple. Dinner is included after the temple.  B, D

October 12:  Today is Saturday. This morning is fun as we visit the iconic Churchill Downs. We’ll see a very interesting film and museum followed by a guided tour onto the world’s most famous race track. We’ll then have a chance to have lunch in Millionaire’s Row while we watch a couple of races (they happen like every 30 minutes). Whether a fan of horse racing or not, this is a very unique experience that all of our travelers have loved. We then continue an hour east to the Lexington area where we show you some beautiful horse farms that have raised the world’s most famous horses. We’ll make a visit to “Old Friends” which is a farm that has cared for the “has been” Kentucky Derby winners (and other horses).  It is VERY scenic and interesting. We stay in Lexington tonight.  B

October 13: This morning, we’ll attend sacrament meeting.  In the late morning we’ll make our way south through the scenice Appalacian Mountains with a stop at scenic Cumberland Gap National Historic Site. We’ll stop in at the Visitors Center for an interesting film and we’ll take in some of the views. This is where Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia all come together. We continue into Tennessee where we’ll spend two nights in scenic Pigeon Forge at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains. Dinner and a show is included tonight.  B, D

October 14:  This is a VERY FUN place to visit in the fall. We’ll start with a visit to Gatlinburg for a bit of browsing on the main street before we take you into Dollywood where we’ll spend a few hours. There are shows, fun fall decorations, interesting shops and more. After a rest, we’ll enjoy an inlcuded dinner and show (either the Hatfield & McCoy dinner show or the Dolly Parton Stampede dinner show). We stay in the same hotel tonight.  B, D

October 15: Today our friend Linda will join us early (7:30) and show is the incredible beauty of Smoky Mountain National Park. The entrance is just 15 minutes from town. It’s pretty anytime, but the fall colors begin to show at about this time so it’s a great time to be here.  We’ll make lots of stops to take in the views, including a stop at Newfound Gap which is the Tennessee/North Carolina Border where the views are simply spectacular. We descend down the other side and make our way to the Biltmore Estate where we have included lunch and a visit. This is America’s largesst private estate and the grounds were designed by the same architect that designed Central Park (and the grounds at Biltmore are much larger than Central Park). We’ll spend several hours here as there is much to see. Our hotel is just outside of Ashville.  B, L

October 16: We have some interesting things to show you today as we make our way back through the Appalacian Mountains into Georgia. Once again, the scenery is lovely with forest as far as the eye can see. Our lunch stop will be in one of Georgia’s best kept secrets. It’s called Helen, and we’ll have lunch here. This is a quaint, mountain town that is defintely worht a stop. By late afternoon, we’ll be in the Atlanta area. We’ll make a stop at Stone Mountain and take the tram to the top to enjoy the views. Our hotel is near the temple. After checking in, we’ll have a session in the Atlanta Temple tonight.

October 17:  A local guide will show us around Atlanta this morning, followed by lunch on your own in the underground. At about 2:00, we’ll take a two hour drive into Birmingham, Alabama where we’ll check into our hotel near the temple. We have an evening session tonight at the beautiful Birmingham Temple.  B, D

October 18:  We’ll be flying home today. We will know in early 2024 if we are flying home from Birmingham or if we will return to Atlanta airport for our flight home. We will have seen an interesting and beautiful part our our country, along with visits to five temples.  B
